My approach to design.
Everyone has their own unique approach that they apply to design work. It is my hope to supply a brief overview of my process and allow you to determine if you agree with my approach.
Research
The first step I take in designing any website is to talk with the client and then carefully compile research to determine what you, the client, wants. This is an important step which places both the client and I on the same page and gives us a starting point.
Organization
After research has been compiled and a starting point established, the next step is to determine the scope of the project. At this stage it is determined how the information will be organized and what type of site design would best be employed to display the information.
Design
After it has been determined how best to display the information the next stage in the process is coming up with the overall design of the website. Uniformity is key among site design and a strong central theme is established.
Coding
After the site look has been established, the design is carefully constructed using valid XHTML and CSS coding. Care is taken to construct a light-weight, fast loading, standards-compliant website.
Testing
The final step in the web design process is ensuring that all aspects of the site are fully functional, with all links leading to the right places and all images loading correctly.
